One of Milwood's most prominent activities is the Youth in Action program, a facet of the Turn 2 Foundation sponsored by Derek Jeter. This program provides students with the opportunity to participate in fun and educational activities in the school and community, character development sessions to create strong leaders, and time dedicated to community service. Students that participate in Youth in Action are given the opportunity of a lifetime simply through their time and efforts in dedication to this outstanding program.
Milwood's All School Read is focused on "Uglies." The schedule we follow will allow us to read the book in the first two months of school. Please contact Milwood if you were unable to get a copy of the book to read at home.
Our Taking Steps to Gold program was inspired by the athletes achieving and breaking records in the 2008 Olympics. In this program Milwood students set up a systematic practice for reading and set goals to stretch to their next level. Medals are handed out at Student Led Conferences.
